How to vote in the upcoming June 9th Primary

How will the voting by mail process work?

Here are the steps:

Check your voter registration status

It’s important to check your voter registration status at the Secretary of State’s website  to make sure your registration has not been accidentally purged. Do this immediately because you only have until April 20, 2020 to re-register.

You will be sent an Absentee ballot request form

This is an application for a ballot, NOT the actual ballot.  At this time, Georgia voters will still have the option of voting in person on election day and during three weeks of early voting starting May 18.

All active voters in Georgia should receive their absentee ballot request forms by April 10, 2020, but if you do not receive one, you can get one here: https://sos.ga.gov/index.php/Elections/absentee_voting_in_georgia.

Fill out the absentee ballot  form.

On the form, select the Democratic ballot.

You must return the form to get your actual ballot. There are three ways to return the form.

  • Scan and email:
    Coweta County: agay@coweta.ga.us
    Meriwether County: p.threadgill@meriwethercountyga.gov
    Troupe County: elections@troupcountyga.gov
  • You can use the app Cam Scanner to submit your form.
  • Fax
    Coweta County: 770.683.2800
    Meriwether County: (706) 672-9584
    Troupe County:
    (706) 883-1692
  • Deliver in-person or mail to: Voter Registrations and Elections Division
Coweta County: 22 East Broad Street, Suite 128 Newnan, Georgia 30263
Meriwether County: PO BOX 219 Greenville, GA 30222
Troupe County:  PO BOX 1705 LaGrange, GA 30240

You will receive your absentee ballot in the mail.

When you receive your ballot in the mail, fill it out and carefully follow all instructions.

  • Use a black or blue pen
  • Completely fill in the oval to the left of the candidate’s name or issue (if a yes or no question).
  • Only fill in the oval for the number of votes you may cast in one race, i.e. vote for one, vote for two. If you fill-in more than allowed, that race will not be counted on your ballot.
  • Do not write in a name that is already listed on the ballot.
  • If you desire to vote at your polling place, you must surrender your absentee ballot at your poll. The ballot will be cancelled and you will be allowed to vote an electronic ballot at the poll.

When completed, put a stamp on it and mail it back or deliver it to
